My guess (and is nothing more than that) is that she wasn't actually
referring to people dying trying to vote in 2024 but the number of
people who died trying to win the right to vote.

I know the last time I went to vote I saw a couple of people who were
"hobbling" at best (I'm talking about complete with walkers) but I've
never seen an ambulance at a polling station. (Though I do know that
in our municipal elections they wheel a ballot box through our local
hospital particularly the long-term care ward)
