What did you watch?

Hey, thanks for asking!

Multi day catch-up.

In rehab I have DIRECTV streaming but you really can’t read the menu so I
just end up trying to find some Law & Order and let it run or something.

Law & Order is a show you can just jump in on the middle of any random
episode, then let the show play in any random order and wouldn't matter.
And if there is a recognizable guest star, you don't even have to
guess who the killer is.

Agreed. When my dad died I visited with my family and just zoned out
to L&O during the day when everyone was at work. No need to worry
about closely following the plot as you knew where it was going.

Scored yesterday with Abby Carmichael.  On BBCA. Would it kill them to show
me some British stuff?

The first couple nights I was here.

Wishing a speedy recovery.  I've never had to spend the night in a
hospital but came close when I got COVID a few years ago.

I guess I got lucky with COVID as I think I got it right before the
vaccines started coming out. At least the symptoms I had matched what
was being described but just the light ones. Anim had bad luck with
the vaccines (and sadly just seems to be having a run of bad luck :(
).

Still hearing about some people getting COVID to this day who are
having bad symptoms that can last for months.

I have heard (don’t know if it’s true) that there are people that the
symptoms are chronic. They just never go away.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind. I was listening to a podcast with
Jesse Cox and he was talking his friend Crendor (another Youtuber) who
apparently got Covid back a few months ago and is still suffering from
the symptoms. That's perhaps the most scary part about the disease. If
it just kills you right away, that's BAD but it's over. If you end up
in bed for months or the rest of your life that seems even worse
because there's nothing anyone can do to help you. At least not yet,
but maybe one day the scientists/medical researchers will figure it
out.

I watched Erin Brockovich over and over
again, which turns out not to be as awful as I thought it would be same
notation for Ashley Judd is double Jeopardy.

I wish they had some 24 hour westerns or game shows. It seems to be mostly
awful reality stuff.  And news.

Check if they have The Game Show Network.

I did catch this weeks terrible Blue Bloods thanks to my free preview of
Paramount+ from the last time I ordered Chinese food. I’ve been waiting for
somebody to discuss it. With only a handful of episodes yet left they still
aren’t concentrating on wrapping up the family.

I got the Wi-Fi password for the place so I was able to go on the gray and
watch the most recent two episodes of season 18 of Murdoch mysteries
including last night’s very special Christmas episode

I watched DEEP IMPACT. It was as terrible as I remembered, but it was sort
of fun seeing all these actors as babies.

Technically, I like Deep Impact, but I haven't watched it since 2010
when I paired it with Armageddon.  I sort of want to watch Deep Impact
again, but I won't watch one without the other, and I don't want to
watch Armageddon.  Actually, there's your problem, if you had watched
Armageddon first, you would have realized Deep Impact is an OK movie.
It's not Deep Impact's fault you didn't watch Armageddon first. That's
on you. ;-)

I can't even clearly remember the plot of DEEP IMPACT other than I
seem to recall Tea Leoni's character spending time with her dad before
the end (at the end of the movie.) Otherwise it's just a run of the
mill disaster movie.

My understanding is there's a pretty good commentary for Armageddon of
Ben Affleck trashing the movie.  But it's not on my blu-ray.  If they
ever come out with a 4K upgrade that includes the commentary, I'll
probably pick it up just for the commentary, and then finally revisit
Deep Impact too.

Found this.  Definitely will be worth it for the commentary!

I have SYFY channel, but all I ever find on it is horror movies.

I forgot Syfy even exists.

Comcast remembered Syfy exists so they can sell it with their other
channels.

And infomercials just everywhere.

And that's probably why.

I'm amazed that there are so many infomercials as I can't imagine
people watching them. At least not when you can find the same
infomercials showing on multiple channels at the same time.

I wonder if they break you down? If you see a George Foreman grill ad over
and over and over and over and over again if you finally buy it?
>
That sort of happened for me with the star shower that lights up your house
for Christmas. a friend of mine mentioned it and after I saw a bunch of
times I finally bought it for her for Christmas. But those aren’t really
infomercials. Those are just regular commercials.

Well, that's a bit different as you were buying something that you
knew someone wanted. I tend to just move past most informercials.
Though I will admit there have been times when I've been looking for
something to watch and caught an infomercial that has a host with a
voice that just works for me. There was one vitamin informercial that
a male host whose voice just kind of droned on that was great for
putting me to sleep. Had no interest in what was being sold but just
used it as a sleep aid.
