The US >isn't< bigger than Canada and we don't have the endless

 The difference seems to be that federally we have one set of rules for
the whole country and provincially while theoretically every province
has its own rules in practice every province (except Quebec whose
rules are in French) plagiarizes Ontario other than changing 'Ontario'
to whichever province it is. They do however have different
commissions for setting district boundaries.
