A backdoor pilot introduces a character or two for one or two episodes
and then the spinoff begins.

My joke about Barney Miller didn't count as its pilot was on a summer
show that was essentially an anthology of pilots.

I was going to say Angie Harmon was never on Baywatch, but she did an
episode "Sail Away", perhaps after Baywatch Nights ended and I'll guess
to conclude a story line.

I remember reading that she wasn't an actress, happened to share a
flight with The Hoff, charmed him, and he cast her on the program.

Hey! She's on the market! She and Jason Sehorn have been divorced since
2016! (And she's Republican, born in Texas.)
