Relax, Republicans! This post is about the situation in Romania, not America :-)
A court in Romania has ruled that the recent presidential election in Romania, which saw a virtually unknown candidate get the highest vote share after a massive TikTok campaign, has been ruled invalid and will need to be done over.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/romania-court-new-election-1.7403157It's not unusual for people to regret election results but this is the first case I can think of where a democracy overturned a major result and ordered a do-over. I can't help but think politician everywhere are getting a little nervous about this, wondering if it might be a precedent that could be repeated in their own country. For instance, over 3 million people signed a petition demanding new elections in the UK just 4 months after Labour was elected. Judging by the unrest in Georgia after their recent election - the result of which many opposition figures insist was fraudulently obtained - I feel sure they would like a do-over too. And I have no doubt whatsoever that Kamala Harris and her supporters would like a do-over as well.
