Netflix has just released a new miniseries call The Sticky. It's about a real life heist of maple syrup from Quebec that attracted world wide attention.
You might be surprised to learn that it is an American production, not a Canadian one, although it is filmed in Quebec. (One of the producers is Jamie Lee Curtis.) The star is Margo Martindale who many of us will remember as a senior Soviet spy from The Americans and as the matriarch of a crime family in a season of Justified, among other roles. She apparently worked hard on turning her native Texas accent to a Canadian one. The rest of the cast is largely unfamiliar to me and consists almost entirely of Quebec actors who normally work in French language productions but they do a good job. The dialogue is in English with only the occasional French-language pleasantry to give it a Quebec flavour.
She plays a woman who runs a maple syrup farm that has fallen on hard times due to her husband being in a coma after a serious accident. An opportunity presents itself for her to put some much needed money in her pocket and also get revenge on the Quebec syrup association who she blames for some of her troubles.
The entire series, comprising six half-hour episodes, was dropped today and I've watched the first two episodes. It's good so far. You might enjoy this is you like a true crime story or if you just want to get a glimpse of Quebec.

Correction: This series was from Amazon Prime, NOT Netflix. Sorry about that!
