Hello to both of you and I hope you are headed towards a great Christmas
week.
Recently I watched:
MARIA: Angelina Jolie plays Maria Callas, the opera singer. This movie
was quite boring.
They did all they could to besmirch Aristotle Onasis and the Kennedys.
I guess they tried to make opera seem like a good genre of
music/storytelling, but it never sparked at all.
If this has or gets a Golden Globe nomination or Oscar nomination, I'll
watch it. Otherwise I'm happy to skip it.
There is no reason for an actress who isn't a singer to play one of the
most popular sopranos from that era. Just listening to her speaking
voice strongly suggests that she's not going to have Callas's range.
You want to hear Callas sing? Buy a recording.
This movie should be transferred to nitrate film stock.
