Here's a more honest version of her statement: "Honduras is such a shitpile
(because of the political corruption of which I am a huge part) that our
population is fleeing like rats off a sinking ship and illegally invading
the U.S., but America better not do anything to stop it or we'll be big
mad."

And if illegal Honduran aliens make such great contributions to the United

to contribute there?

Here's my counteroffer:

In FY 2023, the Department of State and USAID provided $785.05 million in
bilateral, regional, centrally managed, and humanitarian assistance to
Honduras. Additionally, the Soto Cano Air Base to which she refers
contributes another $200 million annually to the Honduran economy.

So if Presidente Castro wants to fuck around, we'll just find other uses
for all that tax money and she'll find out to the tune of a billion- dollar
loss in her country's revenue.

Otherwise, she can shut her trap and get on board with Operation
Repatriation.

I expect her loss will be considerably more than a billion dollars. I'll bet remittances from Hondurans living in America is worth a very pretty penny and is a major plus to the families that get them and to the government itself, assuming they tax those remittances. Deporting Hondurans back to Honduras is going to put a very major dent in that remittance money AND any taxes collected on those remittances.

Why would such remittances be declared [and thus] made subject to taxation?

Because governments - ALL governments! - love money and anything that can be taxed is an opportunity to make money so that the politicians can pay for the things that they deem important. That includes programs that help "the people" and those that help the politicians, like magnificent palaces for themselves.

What I don't understand is why recipients would declare those funds.
