Another horror flick I would probably watch if I actually got Shudder...

     Broadcast and cable:
TMZ Investigates: Luigi Mangione: The Mind of a Killer     (special)     (8-9 pm, Fox)
:/
And wasn't this already on Tubi?!

Another broadcast network show that I'm actually interested in, but will probably never end up watching.

High Potential        (season 1 winter premiere)           (9 pm, ABC)
 13-episode order.

OTOH, this seems likely to be renewed...

I will surely sample this.

Chicago Med        (season 10 winter premiere)           (8 pm, NBC)
I haven't watched the "Chicago" shows at all so far this TV season... [shrug]

         Thursday, Jan. 9
       Streaming:
On Call         [new; complete season 1]         (12:01 am, Prime Video)
Producer Dick Wolf's latest police procedural stars Eriq La Salle, Lori Loughlin, Troian Bellisario, and Brandon Larracuente as cops in Long Beach, California. The gimmick here is that On Call is filmed cinema verité-style, mixing conventional cinematography with a mix of dashcam, bodycam, and cellphone footage. Episodes run just 30 minutes and all eight of them stream today.

OK, I may try to get through this before the end of Winter Break. But only 8 30-minute episodes seems like a weak investment in this series.

American Primeval        [new; complete limited series]           (3:01 am, Netflix)
Produced and directed (in its entirety) by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), Netflix's six- episode miniseries is an action-filled ensemble drama set in the American West in 1857 where various people from different communities and religions battle to survive against harsh conditions (and each other) on the frontier. Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin headline a cast that also includes Dane DeHaan, Jai Courtney, Shea Whigham, Joe Tippett, Tokala Black Elk, Kip Weeks, and Kyle Bradley Davis, among others.

Meh - I doubt I would like this. And nobody gets Netflix.

The Pitt        [new]            (3:01 am, Max)
A John Wells-produced medical procedural starring Noah Wyle as an overworked ER doctor at a major hospital? Sounds an awful lot like the NBC hit ER. Set in Pittsburgh, each of the first season's 15 near-real- time episodes focuses on a single hour in a single 15-hour shift for Wyle's Dr. Robby Robinavitch. Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Tracey Ifeachor, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, and Taylor Dearden also star. The first two episodes stream today, followed by single-episode releases weekly through April 10.

Yep - total "ER" ripoff. And the supporting cast doesn't interest me enough to try to sample this.

The Traitors        (season 3 premiere)          (9 pm, Peacock)
The Traitors is a nail-biting psychological adventure in which treachery and deceit are the name of the game. The entertainment industry’s most competitive reality stars and famous faces play the ultimate murder mystery game. Hosted by award-winning actor Alan Cumming at an ancient castle set deep in the Scottish Highlands, contestants work together on a series of exhilarating missions to build a prize fund worth up to $250,000. 12 episodes; three are released today, followed by weekly single-episode releases through Feb. 27 and then a double-episode season finale on March 6. Already renewed for seasons 4 and 5.
No.

     Broadcast and cable:
The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription     (movie; linear premiere)         (8 pm, Hallmark Mystery)
Jane seeks justice for a teenager who’s wrongfully imprisoned for murder. She and Detective John work together to prove the teen’s innocence and help reunite him with his mother. Stars Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar. Released on Hallmark+ in September. [The fourth in the "The Jane Mysteries" series, which began with "The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost" in May 2023. Three more were released on Hallmark+ in September 2024, including this one.]
[finger!]
They are crazy if they think I'm going to watch a series starring Jodie Sweetin!!

Hollywood Squares [reboot]        [new]          (8 and 8:30 pm, two episodes, CBS)
Nate Burleson hosts a reboot of the classic game show, which will feature Drew Barrymore as the center square. Moves to Wednesday 10 pm on Jan. 29.

:/

         Friday, Jan. 10
       Streaming:
  Goosebumps         (complete season 2)             (3:01 am, Hulu/Disney+)
"Goosebumps: The Vanishing" begins when twins Cece and Devin Brewer are sent to spend a summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their divorced dad. A threat is stirring, and they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends - Alex, CJ and Frankie - find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.
The second season of the supernatural horror anthology series based on R.L. Stine's books is subtitled "The Vanishing" and will stream in its eight-episode entirety today on both Disney-owned streaming services. Cast members this season include David Schwimmer and Ana Ortiz.

I am hoping Arthur or someone will review this...

Get Away       (movie)            (3:01 am, Shudder)
A family's vacation to a remote getaway takes an unexpected turn when they discover the island they're on is inhabited by a serial killer. 1h 26m.
 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10449276/      [rating 5.8]
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxR_vM0ZdI4
British flick starring Nick Frost and Aisling Bea - and it's comedy-horror, so I'm skeptical...

Note: There appears to be no Tubi original movie today. In fact, Tubi's official schedule lists new movies only on Jan. 3, 17, and 31, or other every Friday.
Yeah, they really, really seem to have a cut back on their original flicks recently.

     Broadcast and cable:
My Fatal Social Following       (movie; linear premiere)       (8 pm, LMN)
Julia, a lonely and ostracized teenager, is coming to terms with the disappearance of her best friend when she discovers a mysterious social media account called “The Family.” Chloe Avakian, Hunter Romanillos, and Muretta Moss star. 2024 film originally titled "Instacult" that was apparently originally released on Lifetime Movie Club.
[Has LMN moved its premieres to Friday night, with its pseudo-premieres (that have already been shown on Lifetime) on Thursday?]
Yes. In fact, they seem to do this every year (in the Winter) IIRC, before moving back to Thursday premieres in Spring(?).
Anyway, kind of looking forward to this one.
