What did you watch?
Yesterday, I finally flew home.
After getting home, I mostly just relaxed. I did catch up on GH:
soaps: GH - Fri's and Mon's ep's. Wow - I did not expect them to write out Michael this way! I also don't see how they bring the character back after this. Looks like Willow will skate on custody of the kids afterall. And Sasha decides to stay in town. Meanwhile, the noose looks to be tightening on Cyrus Renault. And Charlotte goes off with Valentin (have they written both off for good?!...)
After that, I basically just listened to music.
But I sort of finally did half-watch "My Mother Stole My Life" on LMN - if anything, it seemed even more preposterous than I was expecting!
I watched:
Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale (AMC) New show set in an alternate history everyone knows witches exist and they are heavily regulated and licensed to practice magic. In the pilot people are living in a small affluent town, where everything is going great until there's an "accident" at a party where several high profile teens are killed. A police detective opens an investigation into the accident but people are acting suspicious and there turns out to be more to the story.
With nothing new to watch and not in the mood for anything already saved on my DVR, I headed over to Hulu to watch more Abbott Elementary. But instead I got sucked into binging "The Bear."
The Bear (Hulu) "System" - Season 1, episode 1. Pilot of a drama (that cheats at award shows by claiming to be a comedy) about a big city chef (Jeremy Allen White from Shameless) who returns to his hometown to run his dead brother's greasy spoon of a restaurant. He tries to make the restaurant big city fancy, which causes the existing staff, including his cousin who used to run the restraint with White's brother, to mock him and revolt. I should point out that he doesn't actually change anything about the restaurant. It's still a greasy spoon, he just tries to force the staff to act as if was fancy. And it doesn't go over well at all! White has one ally on his side in the form of "Sydney" (Ayo Edebiri) a new young chef who is aware of his skills and shows up to learn from the best. But no one else on the staff likes her.
"Hands" - Season 1, episode 2 - Things take a turn for the worse when a health inspector shows up.
"Brigade" Season 1, episode 3 - Jeremy Allen White's character puts "Sydney" in charge of the kitchen as he continues to try to organize the staff into a real kitchen crew. The staff still resists change, with one in particular actively sabotaging the kitchen.
OK, I guess now I'm officially hooked. I'll keep with it. This show is *clearly* a drama! The fact they keep entering themselves in the "comedy" category to win awards should be a crime!
