 That sinister video, if swallowed, should perhaps be chased with something like this Atlantic article:
     "In 1973, Bass, [who in 2020 became] a potential Biden VP pick, traveled to Cuba with the Venceremos Brigade. “I didn’t have any illusions that the people in Cuba had the same freedoms I did,” she said.
 (The article is partially paywalled, so I'm just guessing...)
 

And yet she continued working with the Venceremos Brigade for many years. Clearly, she wasn't too miffed by the inequity of it all. In fact, she was probably looking forward to the day when Californians were just as unfree as her Cuban allies.
