What did you watch?
 Hey, thanks for asking.
 Ditto. Nothing.
 Wait! That’s not right!
I’ve been watching lots of reels on the Facebook. Usually they’re cooking
or model airplanes but yesterday every single one was either religious or a
clip from “Whose Line Is It Anyway”
The latter were peculiar because almost everyone comes from a different
source so there’s no way to subscribe to see more. Generally, they were
pretty funny. The religious ones I blocked with prejudice.
So I rigged up a selfie stick that has a little tripod so you can take
pictures of yourself and put it next to the recliner and put the iPhone in
it and can use it to watch movies hands-free.
With my new rig, I finally made it through episode two of VIENNA BLOOD.
This is a beautiful looking well produced wretched mess of a train wreck of
a show. I never even figured out for sure until episode three (wait for
it.) if the main character and the main female character were engaged or
married. She keeps referring to them as being married, but in episode three
he finally tells his family “the engagement is off“

They were betrothed when very young, and she just assumed they'd be married at some point.

There are characters I have no idea why they are there. Characters appear
and disappear making no sense. When they investigate a military school for
boys they headmaster makes a point of telling the gatekeepers never to let
them in again but the next time they come back, they just saunter in.
Characters have flashbacks to events that they were not party to (yeah
there’s a lot of George Burns show stuff going on here where they are
clearly watching along with us.). And far too many of the people look
alike.
I was going to give up after episode two, but when I saw there were only
three episodes to the entire season I went for the last one. Which made
even less sense than the other two especially if you had seen the other
two.
Oh, yeah, there’s also a lot of DEATH IN PARADISE nonsense where the lead
will see something completely non sequitur and make a connection that
solves the case for him. For instance, his awful fiancé drags him to the
opera, and he realizes about five minutes in the entire series of bizarre
complex, inexplicable murders we’ve seen across the last two episodes are
killing all the characters in this opera. So if he had never seen the opera
would the cases still be unsolved? And why didn’t he stay to see the rest
of the opera to find out who was next in line to be killed?
Ian, Jessica De Gouw is the most unsatisfying example of all of this. She’s
only in season one and plays a mad woman in the first episode, but she’s a
distinguished scientific expert by the end of episode three that the fiancé
is insanely jealous of because apparently she saw scenes we didn’t and just
as at the end of episode three she becomes important to the storyline, she
never appears again. Definitely don’t watch it for her.
