They're British shows, so Americans probably couldn't understand them or the accents. :-p
(I haven't seen either show, so don't know whether or not they are any good.)
Disney+ Cancels Extraordinary & Shardlake,
Streaming Service Rep Gives Statement
------------------------------------------
Extraordinary and Shardlake have both been canceled at Disney+,
with a representative for the streaming service sharing a
statement about the British series.
What did Disney+ Say About Canceling Extraordinary & Shardlake?
"Disney+ Original series Extraordinary will not be returning
for a third season on the service, a representative for the
streaming service revealed. "We're so proud of the hilarious,
award-winning series brought to life by the incredibly talented
British and Irish cast and crew, our production partners at Sid
Gentle Films, and the exceptional writing talent of creator
Emma Moran."
According to Variety, the representative continued: "Disney+
Original series, 'Shardlake' will also not be returning for a
second season on the service. We'd like to thank Stephen
Butchard who adapted the late C.J. Sansom's beloved novel for
the screen, the entire cast - led by the outstanding Arthur
Hughes - and crew, and our production partners The Forge and
Runaway Fridge. We hope to work with all of our partners across
these shows again in the future."
Extraordinary Season 1 followed the character of Jen. Described
as painfully self-aware and in her mid-twenties, Jen is still
waiting to get her superpowers in a world where just about
everyone has a special ability. Jen feels that she's adrift and
she's quite eager to find her superpower. The show's second
season ended on a cliffhanger, which will not be answered now
that Extraordinary Season 3 is officially not happening.
The cast of the comedy series includes Mairead Tyers as Jen,
Bilal Hasna, and Luke Rollason. Siobhán McSweeney and Robbie Gee,
meanwhile, play Jen's mom and stepdad.
Written by series creator Emma Moran, and directed by Toby
MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan, Extraordinary is executive
produced by Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle
Films, the production company behind Killing Eve. Charles Dawson,
Johanna Devereaux, and Emma Moran also serve as executive
producers. Charlie Palmer is Series Producer with Abiola
Rufai-Awojide as Producer.
As for Shardlake, it is a four-part mystery series that took
place in the Tudor era. It followed the barrister Matthew
Shardlake, who is sent by Thomas Cromwell to investigate the
death of a commissioner in a remote town. That cast included
Arthur Hughes in the lead role, Sean Bean, and Anthony Boyle.
Despite these cancelations, Disney+ is moving forward with other
British shows. Rivals, starring David Tennant, has been a hit.
The scandal-focused drama also streams on Hulu in the U.S. and
will return for season 2. There's also A Thousand Blows from
creator Stephen Knight, which premieres on February 21.
