That sounds vaguely familiar. I also recall hearing Ian Fleming wanted Christopher Lee (who Fleming is related to) to play Bond but the studio went with Connery instead or maybe it was Moore instead.
He wanted "Saruman" to play James Bond?! That just seems... wrong. ;p
In just a few more months I *should* be into my Bond rewatch. :-)
