 More than two decades after BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER ended its seven-season
 run, the beloved supernatural drama is eyeing a revival with a new chapter
 in the franchise. A followup series is nearing a pilot order from Hulu,
 with Sarah Michelle Gellar expected to star, reprising her signature role
 as Buffy Summers

 
 Is this going to be a geriatric Buffy trying to run around and do all the
 gymnastics and whatnot that she used to as a teenager, or is she going to be

Anyway, remember at the end of the series they had released all the
potentials? There are hundreds, maybe thousands of them running around; the
big question is have more than being born in the last 20 years.
 

 Beyond the pilot order, I hear the reboot is starting a writers room soon,
 a sign that Hulu and the studios have high expectations for the project
 going to series. It is unclear yet whether other original Buffy cast
 members would return; that is considered likely.

 
 It's considered likely probably because most of them have nothing else going
 on with their careers.

She does not. Brooke Burke took over the hosting duty in 2023 of PENN
& TELLER: FOOL US.

 

 Buffy creator Joss Whedon, who also wrote the 1992 movie the series was
 based on, has no involvement in the reboot. He has not worked in Hollywood
 in any official capacity since facing a slew of misconduct allegations in
 2021.

 
 Whether he was a cad or not, his writing is what made the show what it
was. I
 don't have high hopes it will recapture the magic without him.
 

 
Yeah. Even the decent episodes that he allowed to be credited to others
were heavily rewritten by him.

 
That's the main reason I question the ability to recapture the magic
(the lack of Whedon being involved in the project.) I get that he did
some bad things and they wouldn't want him on the set but without him
being involved in the writing it's doubtful the show makes it past a
first set of episodes. Not that it's that likely it survives to a
second season even if he was involved as most shows don't do that
well.

 following mothership Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired on the WB for
 five seasons from 1997-2001 before dramatically moving to UPN for two more

What if we make the entire cast black? Wouldn't that be the best move?

Strangely, an entirely black cast (a la HAMILTON) is considered highly
diverse, even though, going by the commonly-accepted English language
definition of the word 'diverse', an all-black cast is exact opposite of
diverse.
