The day before giving an exam, I'm usually busy, and so it was yesterday. So all I got through were soaps:
soaps: Y&R - Mon's ep. This was mostly a snooze. Nate is indignant that Lily interfered with and tried to get dirt on Damien. Damien meets with his mom Amy, and seems to reconcile. Billy and Sally cook dinner for Jack and Diane. Meh.
GH - Wed's ep. While Maxie stalls/runs interference, Lulu goes through Martin's notes discovering Brook Lynn and Dante had a son in high school (but apparently not that it's Gio), and that Dante doesn't know about it; later, while Lois retrieves the notes from Martin to destroy them (and I think Martin realized they'd been tampered with), Lulu goes to Cody to surreptitiously confirm that Brook Lynn had a child way back when. Felicia is concerned about Carly's relationship with NuJack Brennan. While out to dinner with Jack, Carly concludes he's a "player", and tries to stop the date, but Jack talks his way out of it. (Meanwhile, Jack Brennan gets an update about Josslyn's spy training during the date!) Portia whines to Ava about Drew blackmailing her, but Ava can't offer much help! Dante's son Rocco gets a location from Charlotte, and is outraged when Jason's son Danny tells Jason the location - Jason and Anna then immediately leave town without telling anyone to try to retrieve Charlotte.
Besides that, I was working on stuff.
What did you watch?
I watched:
Invincible (Amazon) "What Have I Done?" - Season 3, penultimate episode. Angstrom, the dimension shifting villain, turns out not to be as dead as thought. And if you saw the bloodied mess that Invincible left the last time they fought that was a surprise. Anyway Angstrom recruited 18 evil versions of Invincible from across the multiverse and basically lets them lose on Earth to destroy everything in sight and make sure everyone blames Invincible, even if later they find out it wasn't him, no one would care. This was an action packed nonstop adrenaline rush episode as this was basically what a full Viltrum invasion would look like. I don't want to spoil what went down, but it was really good, and set up the finale.
Matlock - "This is That Moment" - Episode 12, from a few weeks ago. The firm handles a divorce / custody case and because this is TV show, in the middle of the case one of the lawyers from the same firm suddenly takes over representing the other side. But not only lawyers from the same firm, but lawyers from the same firm who just happen to be in the middle of their own divorce. Did I mention this is a TV show?
Severance (ApplyTV+) - "Sweet Vitriol" - Season 2, episode 8. This is one of those confusing (even for this show) episodes that is nothing but the writers messing the audience. None of the main characters show up. The episode focuses on Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette) visiting her home town and talking to family. But everyone talks weird, because this Severance and that's what they do on this show. If any episode was going to make someone on the fence say, I'm out, this is that episode. I'm not out, but any more like this and I will be.
Mickey 17 (theatrical) New sci-fi movie written and directed by Bong Joon-ho, based on the novel Mickey 7. Robert Pattinson stars as Mickey, a man who books passage on a spaceship leaving Earth to colonize a new planet. But in order to get on board with no money he volunteered to be an "expendable." Basically they send him to do all the dangerous stuff and if he gets killed they simply print out a new version of him with the same memories. Because he's an expendable they treat him like dirt, and don't just send him on dangerous missions, they send him on *unnecessarily* dangerous missions just to see what happens, because why not. They can always make a new one. Steven Yeun co stars as Mickey's friend. Along with Mark Ruffalo as a cult like leader who is heading the colony, and Toni Collette as Ruffalo's wife. I'm still not sure what to make of this movie. I guess I liked it, but it was a bit long. They could have easily shaved off 10 or 15 minutes. If you liked, "Moon" this is basically a comedic version of that.
