 I thought indigenous cultures were supposed to be both celebrated and
 protected against dilution and/or supplantation by colonizing foreigners,

The mainstream left believes that a political slogan is more powerful
if it isn't true, hence their crocodile tears for the indigenous.

The typical Islamist hates Jews, Christians, atheists, gays, dogs, bacon,
wine, beer, your civilization, your culture, your traditions, your country,
and you.
