    These were taken by a student at Alexander Hamilton High

    Angeles. They were taken surreptitiously because the teacher
  prohibited cell
    phone use in the classroom, not because it was distracting but
  because she
    didn't want pictures of her classroom getting back to parents.

    This sort of thing is hardly an isolated incident. A couple
  months ago, I
    stopped by my local high school to drop off a music project

  definitely struck me
    that there were a lot more Soviet hammer-and-sickle flags on

    classrooms than there were American flags.

  I remember a teacher in Sacramento named Gabriel Gipe eventually

  sacked for similar displays in his classroom. He proudly told an
  undercover journalist about his efforts to radicalize his high

  students. He even wore a beard and cap like Lenin did in his

 Try reading Joseph Wambaugh's novels. He was a police officer for 14 years until his success as a writer basically forced him to leave the job. His fiction is all about police officers and is heavily informed by both his own experiences and those of fellow officers, all of whom he cites by name in his books. Many of his books depict the suicide of a police officer who has been haunted by things he's seen. No empathy? What a steaming load of bullcrap!

Afaik, police are subject to more rigid rules and pro/prescribed procedures than teachers are ...at least until nanny-cams arrive.
