The vehicles do resemble squad cars but the initials are different. The
badge is different. It's meant to intimidate but short of making
threats, what crime is committed?

Impersonation doesn't require an exact match. Driving a marked squad
car that is nearly identical to NYPD cars, wearing uniforms with badges,
etc. all create a reasonable impression in the mind of the average citizen
that they are law enforcement officers. Add to that their behavior--
giving people orders as if they have legal authority-- and you have a
pretty airtight case of impersonation.

Also, the emergency lights on the vehicles would be a separate criminal
offense in California. I assume New York has a similar law.

How about a civil rights violation for religious discrimination against
those who aren't practicing their faith?

The painting wasn't sold as forgery if the artist copying the master's
work signed it himself,

so the fact that they're able to do this without any pushback indicates
the city is perfectly fine with Sharia patrols in New York. The frog is
in the pot and the heat is slowly rising.

Why doesn't any of this shit ever happen around me? I would *love*
to have some Islamist fake cop try to enforce his religion on me. That
would be a fun day.

Muslim Community Patrols are driving through New York neighborhoods

Dressed like police officers and driving cars identical to police
squad cars, they are stopping to harass people for things like drinking
alcohol, claiming "this is a Muslim area and alcohol is not permitted".

The Muslim Community Patrol & Services (MCPS) operates volunteer
patrols in Brooklyn, New York, using NYPD-like Ford Taurus vehicles
with red and white lights to deter crime around mosques and schools.

I don't see this as any different than the plaintiff-appellant's
position just taken in Braidwood Management, Inc. v. Becerra, that their
free exercise of religion includes the right to regulate the behavior of
others.

What federal court decision protects me from crap like this?

The photograph was in this article published February 3, 2019. Is this
still going on? Even though the photograph doesn't show the red and blue
flashers, the article says the vehicles are so equipped.

There's nothing in the article about attempts to enforce an alcohol ban
or any other ban according to Sharia Law. Where did you read about that?

It was in the video of the news report that I linked to above.

It was a clip of a news report which appeared to be CNN but then ended
abruptly. I was unable to find where it originated. I was writing a
letter to the editor (that won't be accepted) on loss of liberty via
third parties using the heckler's veto. The issue had free exercise of
religion implications as well so I would have referenced this incident
if I could have found enough details.

Sigh. It took me rewriting it over several hours to get it down from
several pages to a mere 350 words. Do you know how painful that is?
