It was okay, but, as usual, not even remotely as good as the John Nettles original. The main Bergerac character in the reboot is boring and unlikeable. Plus of course, 'Political Correctness' means his in-law "Charlie Hungerford" is now a woman.  :-\
This news item comes from a Doctor Who website, so has a bit of a slant towards that show.
Bergerac, Written by Doctor Who's Toby Whithouse,
    Renewed For Second Season
    -------------------------------------------------
The reboot of Bergerac, written by Toby Whithouse and created by
Robert Banks Stewart, has been recommissioned for a second season
on the TV channel, U&DRAMA earlier this year, reimagining the 80s
Jersey-based detective series for a modern audience.
The detective show, set on Jersey, was originally created by
Stewart, who wrote Terror of the Zygons and The Seeds of Doom for
the Fourth Doctor, and brought back by showrunner, Toby Whithouse,
whose Doctor Who credits include School Reunion, The Vampires of
Venice, A Town Called Mercy, and Under the Lake/ Before the Flood.
The 2025 version, starring Damien Molony (Being Human), saw one
investigation stretch across the six-episode season, while
Jim Bergerac deals with alcoholism and depression following the
    death of his wife.
Most importantly, the programme is fantastic. I watched the first
scene and thought, "wow, this is exceptional writing"; then the
name "Toby Whithouse" popped up on screen and I realised why that
    writing was so darn good.
The second series, due to air in 2026, will see Bergerac starting
to put his life back together, while his mother-in-law
Charlie Hungerford (New Earth's Zoe Wanamaker) has a new man in
her life. Jim's even tentatively dating, with his daughter's
encouragement, although it's a big step for him. But then he meets
Nicola, a visitor to Jersey, and they connect. Could this be the
    start of something for Jim?
However, before the relationship even has time to blossom, Jim is
pulled back into his next big case. When the groom at a wedding
reception on the island is found murdered in his hotel room, the
wedding party comes under intense suspicion and scrutiny. Jim will
have to decipher the victim's cryptic last words from his speech
if he is ever going to bring the killer to justice. And when Jim
starts to unravel old secrets, more skeletons come to light,
making this his most intricate case yet.
The second series will be written by Whithouse, alongside
Ashley Sanders, Emilie Robson, and Faebian Averies.
    Damien Molony said:
"I'm so excited to be returning for a second series and to
be heading back to the beautiful island of Jersey. Bringing
this iconic role back has been an incredible experience. My
predecessor had solved six crimes in the time it's taken
for me to solve one, so I have a bit of catching up to do.
I can't wait to explore the character of Jim Bergerac
further and see what case we crack next."
