That blows! I had my doubts about reviving this but I thought they did a remarkable job of recapturing the zaniness of the original and would happily have watched more seasons.

 I'm going to blame too many cast changes.
 A segment of the audience is like me - resistant or downright hostile to esp. unnecessary cast changes, and this show went through at least 2 or 3 of those.
 

I also blame the show just not being that funny.  Although now that you mention the cast changes, you do have a point as far as not being able to invest in the characters.  I'm not going to miss it.  I currently have several episodes sitting on my DVR unwatched.  There's a good chance I'm just going to delete them.
