filmed in Spain, not Italy.

I'm skeptical about the village in Fistful of Dollars actually being a real Spanish village; I'm dubious about Spanish architecture being identical to that of the Old West. I suspect they built the village as a set with only a handful of structures fully built and the rest just being walls and roofs.
