 Hartnel is before my time, but I'm a Tom Baker (and Jon Pertwee) fan, and I have no problem with Ncuti Gatwa, or Jodie Whittaker, for that matter.  And the Timeless Child is just a plot device and very unlikely to be retconed.
 

Then Doctor Who will stay dead and buried. The Timeless Child monster is not just a plot device. It rewrites the origin story of the Doctor and turns them into genocidal monster created from an abducted and abused little black girl from another dimension that is running away from the crimes of it's past.
