Fringe S4E02 'One Night in October'
IMDb sez: The "Over Here" team helps the "Over There" team look into a string of murders in which the victims are frozen from the inside out.
Contains a parody of the Maxell "Blown Away Guy" ad - we see Walter Bishop 'relaxing' in front of a huge bank of speakers, sitting deep in an armchair, while playing classical music at high volumes.
At the gas station, when Noreen Miller is filling up, the emblem on the front of her Dodge mini van is obscured with silver tape. There is also a Ford Explorer, which leaves the station as the scene opens, which also has its grill emblem covered with silver tape.
(This was because Ford stopped paying for product placements.  Nissan took their place.)

Walter explains to Olivia the spores on the bodies are cordyceps fungi. Cordyceps fungi are what cause people to mutate in the Playstation game The Last of Us. This episode premiered 2 years before the game was released. Anna Torv plays the live action version of Tess, a character in the game, in the HBO adaptation that premiered in 2023.
