conversations with Kirk in scenes edging toward romantic subtext, and Number
One performing a Klingon opera version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart." The
episode earns a 4 out of 10 for replacing competent Starfleet officers with
punchlines in a ten-episode season that can't afford to spend a full hour
undermining characters it needs the audience to trust. Three episodes in,
Strange New Worlds Season 4 has borrowed from The Hangover, Event Horizon,
and Doctor Who � and has yet to produce a single hour that feels like Star
Trek first.
