Does he trust them not to evict people from their homes?

Island and Washington State are laying claims to parts of Metro
Vancouver. Plus probably the man made spit in Tsawwassen that contains
the BC Ferries terminal to Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island.
So tug the forelock and agree in advance that any native land claim is
legitimate and not the slightest exaggerated....(my home is in such a
region though pre-contact data shows local native people never
inhabited more than a strip of land about 1/2 miles from the sea and
I'm considerably north of that - with the only evidence they ever went
this far from the sea was either for berry picking or bear hunting -
never habitation)
Are you in an area that is only claimed by one tribe? I understand there
are whole areas which two or more tribes each claim as their territory
which would have to complicate things even further.

There were some revolts or actions that involved small numbers of people, like the Riel Rebellion in the 19th century or the FLQ Crisis in 1970 but the number of people willing to fight violently was small. During COVID, there were certainly people who objected strongly to the lockdowns but precious few who would take up arms. We're too damned docile as a people.
We didn't forge our country in war the way you did. We didn't have to fight for our independence. In fact, I once heard a claim that we didn't even SEEK independence from Britain: the British Foreign Office basically found it expensive to do all it was doing when we were still colonies and strong-armed us into cobbling together the sovereign nation of Canada. Of course that's not the official line in our history books but no one seems to look too closely at the events so I truly don't know.
I wonder if actual having the government take away homes would be enough to motivate armed resistance on a large scale? I really don't know.
You have no idea how sad it makes me to say that. I have no desire whatever to go to war with anyone but it really disturbs me that I'm not sure if, as a people, we have any red lines that the government absolutely MUST NOT CROSS. I'd really like to be able to say that we might tolerate X or Y but we absolutely will NOT accept Z but I don't if there is a Z or what Z is.
