Just in case anyone still reads the newsgroup....
The annual Gabe Weiner Memorial and Ampex User's Group Dinner will take place
at the AES show in NYC on Octover 9th. We will meet promptly after the show
closes at 6:00 PM in front of the Javits center. Look for a lot of
white-haired old guys with back problems from carrying 440 machines up many
flights of stairs.
Upon meeting we will proceed crosstown by whatever methods people prefer
to Dim Sum Palace, 33 west 33rd st., which is to say 33rd and 6th. This
is a 20 minute walk according to google.
Note that this interferes with the Heyser lecture because honestly there isn't
any evening that doen't interfere with something important at the show. If
you want to go to the Heyser, do so and then come directly to the restaurant
and we will find a place for you. Note that the restaurant closes at 10:30 pm
which means likely they will kick us out after this.
Is this place as good as the Golden Unicorn? Probably not. Is it okay
to go even if you have a Z-Deck? Sure, even if you don't own any Ampex
gear at all, or even worse own Ampex digital gear, you can come.
