I think someone here mentioned a better news reader so could they remind me?
Forte Agent. is probably the best. Not freeware, but I'm sure
someone making US$ 7000 a month interest on his fortune would not mind
paying US$ 40 for a lifetime license.

Correction, tommy consistently makes 12-14K a month. You can believe him
because he says it's true :P
He's amazing. That's ~10% a year with a declining inflation. I
get +- 2% a year over inflation.

Thunderbird works, but has less bells and whistles (searching,
archiving and filtering)and also datamines you....

Well, tommy thinks Thunderbird is a web browser, so it's likely he won't
ever be using it as a news reader or email client any way.

RE: datamining - Not surprising considering its' roots. I only use Tbird
as a newsgroup reader, so I'm not giving it access to any email
accounts. I'd assume that limits the ability to trap any data associated
with email.

Web traffic is another matter altogether. Since they're both part of the
Mozilla-verse I'm guessing there's more than a bit of linkage if you
also use Firefox, but then I'd also assume Firefox is the master in that
relationship.
Fire up Firefox. Type about:networking in the address bar. See
how many connections there are to Mozilla(and their "trusted
partners") servers.
Or Start Wireshark. Type "DNS" into the filter window and
press enter. THEN start up Firefox. You don't even need to visit a
website and it's already tracking you.
And Mozilla gives you a UNIQUE_ID for your "privacy". You can
see it in about:networking.
LOL
Of course, Chrome is worse.....
