Electric trucks, pickups or 18 wheelers, are even more ridiculous than

In your opinion!   ;-)

I can understand someone having electric car if all
they do is make short trips and have charging capability at their
home.

Mine has a nominal range of ~250 miles. I've charged it only once at a
public charger, during the first week I owned it. And that was free,
while my wife and I took a walk and had lunch.

We very often drive over a hundred miles from our home and park in
places where there will never be a charging station or a gas station.

Luckily, gas stations are very easy to find.

While absolutely charging at public chargers is less convenient generally,
though destination chargers if one goes to such places is convenient ie car
charging while you shop etc.

Wouldn't work for me. I rarely spend more than ten or fifteen minutes
shopping. Quick in, quick out. That's me.

But regardless, Florida is fairly built up and is just a cursory glance
covered in EV chargers most EV will do 200/300 ish miles and most folks
with EV charge at home.

As I said, we drive over a hundred miles. Park where there ae no
chargers or gas stations, then drive home, knowing that finding a gas
station is not going to be a problem.

There will probably be a time when like you, I'll only drive to local
entities, but I dred the thought.

That’s not what he’s said just that he’s only used a public charger once. I
believe he has to do a fair bit of traveling.
