If you haven't shot your gun at someone in self defense, you have not
used it, at least not for the reason you bought it.
<EYEROLL> Krygowski appears to believe that the reason I carry a gun
on my rides is so I can shoot at someone.
Based on your posts, you carry the gun because you're so afraid someone
might attack you. If that very unlikely event happened,
Actually, you know that it already did happen, Dummy. That's when the
local law enforcement officer suggested that I carry my gun. He
already knew that I had guns, that I was qualified to do so and was
proficient with them.
you would at
least threaten to shoot at them. It's silly to pretend otherwise.
Making sure that someone attacking me knew that I was armed would be
the first step, of course, and shooting them, not shooting at them,
would be the last resort.
Note that nobody else here has expressed fear of such an attack (in your
case, by whom? A mom pushing a stroller?). Nobody else here has admitted
riding only while carrying a gun. Nobody else here is that fearful.

So timid! So fearful!
That's from a guy who has never done anything more challenging than
ride his bicycle and spent his working career in a highly protected,
non competitive classroom repeating the same dialog year after year.
That's also the guy who believes that merely having a gun in his home
makes him likely to be shot. He also believes that the sidepaths I
rode today put me in more danger than riding on the streets and
highways.
I think Krygowski's major problem with me is that not only have I
lived a far more exciting and fulfilling life than him, I've made it
very clear that I think he's a pathetic wuss.
Projection is one of his basic problems
