And the nomenclature is equally entertaining.  "27 and one
half" at 584mm is between decimal MTB (559mm) and
lightweight 26" (590mm), all well below 27"K2 (630mm).  If
that makes sense to you then 700D is just the thing.

Traditionally, tire/rim letter sizes are each smaller,
starting from A.  Moreover the last new new new 700D (583mm,
GT, Schwinn late 1980s) was smaller than 700C so of course
this 700D is significantly larger (660mm).

Make of that what you will. I don't get it.

Think of it as an opportunity.  If you can't decode the numbers, it's
likely that the customer also can't decode the numbers.  That means
they'll need to come to you for the correct size tire and possibly a
lecture in bicycle tire cryptography.  You should thank Moots for
creating the confusion that attracts customers for clarification.

Incidentally, this might be part of a conspiracy among manufactories
to confuse customers.  It's already epidemic in the computer business
with illogical Intel and AMD CPU model number progressions:

"AMD follows Intel's lead with alphanumeric soup of new Ryzens"
<https://www.theregister.com/2023/01/05/amd_ryzen_intel/>

"AMD CPUs explained: Demystifying AMD's confusing product names"
<https://www.xda-developers.com/amd-processors-explained/>

"NVIDIA Needs to STOP - RTX 3050 & Misleading Branding"
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoPfkaSKIVo>

Bigger numbers are no longer bigger, better or faster products.

If you're looking for rational thinking in product numbering, you've
arrived at the wrong place.  Considering the growing number of
companies that are doing the same thing, this creative numbering and
naming is obviously intentional and probably a conspiracy.
