Oakland police do nothing but protect those businesses tht pay protection
money. I ride by a place all of the time that used to be a Costco but is
now some other type of box store. At the entrance top the lot is a police
car with its lights flashing.. If theives loot the place I don't think
that he would actually shoot anyone but jump in the car and leave. You
wouldn't want to be a witness.

You lot certainly need to move considering the problems with crime and what
not you have!

I keep telling him that. :-/

Some people aren't so timid as to let the bad guys run them out.

Meh I or Frank aren?t the ones complaining of crime, london is far from
crime free as you?d expect from a city that size and also is variable.

What's wrong with complaining about crime? It seems to me that it's
one way to facilitate official efforts to reduce crime.

Not on Usenet its not! I rather suspect its the click bate news than say
contact with the police/local politicians and so on.

Seems to me that it's just about as useful to complain about crime on
Usenet as it is to suggest on Usenet that people should move, or to
complain about people owning/carrying a gun or riding a bike in places
and in ways that some people don't approve of.

Granted both have similar levels of probability though complaining on
usenets is absolutely zero, where as Frank is unlikely to convince you and
others.
Although they have very little else in common, ISTM the two main complainers about specific crimes are Andrew, with links to tabloid articles, and Tom, with tales that may or may not be true.
I complain mostly about America's insanely lax gun policies and the resulting carnage and societal problems. I typically use citations of national data.
