We'd be back to the 5 decades or so from the 40's to the 90's when they all used downtube shifters, dumbass. What do you suppose would happen in the Tour de France if the competitors
had to look down to shift?
Because reaching down means breaking the aerodynamic advantage of the TT bars, dumbass. And BTW, that's exactly what they had to do when aerobars first became fashionable in road TTs back in the late 80's.Why do you suppose they put shift buttons at
the end of the aerobars and just not shift from the standard levers?
Because it allowed for quicker shifting and the ability to shift while out of the saddle, a definite competitive advantage, much like the conversion of TT bikes to use aerobars over bullhorns, dumbass.Roger, I get the impression that you came into cycling after downtube
shifters. Why do you suppose that conversion to brifters was universal and almost instant?
