 As usual, he advises everyone to wear a helmet. As usual, he doesn't advise anyone to watch the road surface; but road surface problems are the top cause of bike crashes.
 

While we all rationally agree we ought to observe road surface, traffic, potential interference (car stopped at cross street, door which may open, pedestrian between cars, suicides falling from above* and so on) and crap on roadway surface (water, snow, slush, sand, gravel, glass, leaves, other debris) while riding, who among us has not dumped the bike with a moment's inattention? I know I have.
