It's a rare handgun that can fire as many rounds within a minute as can
a standard AR with a couple standard magazines.
Glocks are pretty common. Not the least bit rare.

Don't get me wrong. That magazine is well beyond ridiculous, but it's
out there, and they have them for other handguns.

That's specifically why the nutcases intent on killing the maximum
number of kids or other people in a crowd usually choose the AR style.
The loonies (both the shooters and fearmongers) think it looks scary,
what with the barrel shroud and the pistol grip.
>I'm guessing but I suspect that the use of the AR for school shooting>
may be due to them being so cheap to buy and school kids don't have
much money.
Most of the high death count school shootings have not been by students
of the school. They've been done by somewhat older guys.
"the typical American school shooter is likely to be a Caucasian
adolescent male from a middle-class community who attends or attended
a suburban high school."

Truth seems to be difficult target.
