My statement stands: Anyone who needs rapid fire to take a deer is an
incompetent slob.

You hunted deer, correct? How many times did you shoot more than, say,
even five shots within 30 seconds after first seeing a deer? Please do
answer!

Well, to answerer  Frankie, back in my younger days I could kill a
woodchuck, never tried a deer, with one shot ,at a measured 100 yards,
with a S&W 38. pistol, so when Frankie asks " did 'you' shoot " he's
asking an expert, not Mr.Average Shooter, so his question is, at best,
facetious.

My statement stands. Are you _really_ trying to defend the idea of
having to blast away at a deer, multiple fast shots, to kill it? I think
most hunters would find that horrific. I could ask some if you like.

I'll bet that all Krygowski's imaginary friends agree with him on
that.
I wonder if, like Tom, Frankie makes up these posts  just to be able
to post something or if he really be lives the B.S. he posts. The
above, for example,
"having to blast away at a deer, multiple fast shots, to kill it? " as
simply another example of his lack of knowledge of the subject.
I didn't do a lot of deer hunting and what I did was with a
conventional rifle but if I had an AR I wouldn't throw it away and buy
something different just to shoot a deer once a year. After all, an AR
is short, light and pretty accurate. The caliber is perhaps a bit
small but If that is what was in the closet  I certainly wouldn't
hesitate to use it to shoot white tailed deer.
As for spraying bullets, again Frank exhibits his lack of knowledge...
All of my small arms have been semi automatic pistols, like an AR, one
"bang" for each pull on the triggers. And as for those terrifying 30
round magazine -  see
https://gunmagwarehouse.com/sgm-tactical-10mm-30-round-extended-magazine-for-glock-20-pistols.html
only $20 too.

For those who feel a .223 is too low in mass, AR-15 are offered in .30 REM-AR with excellent ballistics and the not quite so light but well made AR-10 are most commonly sold in 7.62/.308 WIN.
