A few years ago, we had the first and only fatality in our 265 acre nature preserve's history. The guy was a middle aged mountain biker and fitness enthusiast, not known to me but known well by some of my friends, mostly through their contact at a local gym.
He apparently fell off his mountain bike into a very shallow creek while crossing a little footbridge on a winter ride. I never heard autopsy findings, but I wonder if his death was some combination of being knocked out and suffering hypothermia.
