I've been watching the "What is Going on With Shipping?" YouTube
channel, mostly to monitor the Key Bridge salvage operation:

The author posts videos of incidents and events in commercial shipping
and seems well versed in how the shipping industry operates. There's
quite a bit happening that we rarely hear about in the news. I
listened to his explanation of the declining shipping profitability,
but don't recall his explanation.
Customers of ocean shipping hear plenty; the incidents and trends seldom make the general press.
I don't subscribe or pay Statista. That chart came right up for me but about 25% of their pages are blocked by paywall, mostly the most current, more interesting and popular graphs.
