A few weeks back my derailleur failed fairly spectacularly on way to work,

work if poorly returned home at least for 5 miles after which bike became a
heavy scooter! And did snap totally.

Unfortunately a replacement was some weeks off, and it?s at best 2hrs by
public transport about the same by car, but a very tedious journey, so very
keen to have that bike back and running soon.

Did clearly require more kit ie shifter/chain/cassette.

It?s fairly chunky looking kit, it?s supposed to last 3 times as long, and
useful for myself it?s 10s cassette has a larger range 11-39 compared to
11-34 so certainly noticeable, and makes 1 by more useable 10s previously
topped out at 36t

If one was being prickly would say it?s shifting isn?t a crisp as say 10s
Deore or Tiagra that I have on the MTB/Gravel bikes.

Interesting tech nevertheless.

CUES is poobably a good idea if you're replacing the drive train. From 8
speed through 11 speed they a11 use the same spacing and lever pull
ratio, So, unless your present levers are 11 speed they won't work with CUES.

Even then CUES Linkdrive shifters which you can mix and match across the
systems ie 9-11s which is the point of the system, ie all are 11s LinkGuide
so are compatible with each other but not with HyperGuide kit bar the chain
and chainrings.
So I can use any 11s chain doesn’t need to be a Cues one, but I can’t use
say a 11s Deore shifter, has to be a CUES one.
All though there is a Deore Link glide to muddy the waters somewhat!

Seems to be missing from the compatibility chart and 10s so I suspect it’s
only compatible with its self?

Shimano documentation is not only good, it's #1 in our industry.  No need to guess. Ever.
