It reminds me of the glory days of "Velocio" (Paul de Vivie) around 1900. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_de_Vivie
"De Vivie created the derailleur. His first had two chain wheels; the chain had to be lifted by hand from one to the other. He then placed two chain wheels on the left side. The combination gave him four gears."
I think the Buffalo Bike is a laudable project, but I'll need to see more justification for this feature.
