I wore my new bike shoes (SHIMANO SH-XC300) yesterday on my ride. I
wanted to give them a good test and break in, which I why I chose to
ride 60 miles. I really shouldn't do that when it 90+ degrees and high
humidity.
At any rate, the shoes performed admirably even though my new
innersoles hadn't arrived yet and I'd foolishly thrown away the old
ones. There was plenty of width for my very wide feet, but I had to
stop and remove the socks, as I had done with my previous shoes.
Apparently, the way I pedal tends to pull the socks back towards my
heel and squeezes my toes. The extra room in the shoes didn't solve
that.
The new innersoles arrived yesterday and I put them in, tried on the
shoes, walked around and approved.
I highly recommend the Walkomfy Pain Relief Orthotics innersole which
has a raised Plantar Fasciitis feature and high arch support. I don't
have Plantar Fasciitis problems when I ride, but I do suffer
Metatarsalgia, which is pain on the ball of my feet. The raised
Plantar Fasciitis feature and high arch support both seem to elevate
that problem.
These are the third pair of these I've purchased.
