I suspect that 2 oz of cognac is wrong and that "a couple of oz"
really means the traditional "tulip glass" which is 6 oz.  However,
even at 6 oz, the result is zero percent blood alcohol level after 8
hrs sleep.

I can't do anything about clumsy handling.  I assume top heavy glasses
are a bad idea.  Maybe try inhaling the cognac fumes from the shot
glass and see if the aroma adds anything to the experience.

The trick is to roll the brandy around and up the sides of the glass.
Not as easy to do with a rocks glass, but it does work. I've been
doing good brandy for a very long time.

Tinkering more with the numbers, the sleep time has to be reduced from
8 hrs to 2 hrs before any significant results appear (0.018%) which is
still considered safe to drive, cycle or walk.
