Many people in the U.S. think bicylists must always be at the extreme edge of the road. Sadly, most bicyclists seem to think that. I've seen otherwise competent cyclists put themselves at risk that way.
Luckily, when I do ride near lane center - my default position - I only rarely get complaints from motorists.
