Proving they are not practically necessary for you, as for most people.

But, no, I've never owned an AR type as I don't have any use for one
but if I was still shooting in rifle matches I would certainly have
several.

Rifle matches are mere games, and not a _practical_ use. You could play the same sort of game by shooting a Red Ryder BB gun.
So you still can't name a practical societal benefit of ARs in civilian hands. And you make that point more strongly, if inadvertently, by not owning one yourself.
