Your grasp of what a VPN is and what it does is interesting.

No, they didn't. You're trying to log in with an email address that's different from the one you used to open the account. If you account was closed, no one would be able to see it, let alone send messages to it.

If you post on facebook as you do here they WOULD have sent you the same demand that you allow your postings to be "fact checked" and you agreed since you still have access to your account.

You do that once when you register. all subsequent activity is subject to review, but you don't need to agree to any fact checking with every post, it's done automatically based on the EULA you agreed to.
