So I did some research but seems still nothing definite. IF you have a crash is it better that you are in clip-less pedals or free in platforms?
I really doubt you'll ever find enough data to determine that. Bike crashes among riders like those on r.b.tech are very uncommon, and bike crashes are all very chaotic. It's not a good situation for getting robust data.
I began avid adult riding in 1972. I've had only three moving on-road falls. Not much data there! But I've never used clipless. I prefer old style toe clips, usually fastened loosely. A bit more foot-to-pedal security than flat pedals, and easy in, easy out, with the versatility of accepting (almost) any shoes I own
FWIW (= not much) when I used to mountain bike, I used very wide flat pedals, no attachments at all. I did crash a fair amount when trying tricky stuff (never an injury though), and I wanted to be able to either put a food down or quickly abandon the bike. Again, no data for you.
