Reminder:  Your newshosting.org reader continues to mangle your
Subject line in your NNTP header like this:
 Subject: RE: Re: Pan

Oops.  That should be newshosting.com, not org.

I did register wityh eternal-september but it does have the note:
"As AT&T's fancy blacklist rejects mails from Eternal-September.org (again), the following mail domains can not be used for registration as we will not be able to send you your access data:"
I am woindering if that is the reason that Pan doesn't work?

As Andrew mentioned, if you have successfully registered your email
address with eternal-september.org, you don't need to worry about AT&T
email mail problems.

To configure Pan:

On version 0.155 for Linux:
"Edit" -> "Edit News Servers" -> "Add"

I can't guarantee that the Linux version is the same on your older
Windoze version.

=========

Maybe this would be a good time to check your connectivity:

In Windoze, open a CMD (command) prompt.  You should get a black box.
You can be logged in as anything.  No need to be Administrator.

After the command prompt, which should be something like C:\Users\Tom>
type the following:

telnet news.eternal-september.org 119   <enter>

The <enter> means hit the Enter key and does not mean type the word
enter.  You should see something like this:

200 news.eternal-september.org InterNetNews NNRP server INN 2.8.0
(20240731 snapshot) ready (posting ok)

That means you have successfully connected.  Next type in a command,
such as:

list  <enter>

You should see something like:

215 Newsgroups in form "group high low status"
eternal-september.config 0000001133 0000001115 y
eternal-september.grouprequests 0000000785 0000000775 y
eternal-september.info 0000000237 0000000217 m
eternal-september.moderated 0000000090 0000000089 m
eternal-september.newusers 0000002500 0000002456 y
eternal-september.nocems 0000000391 0000000384 y
eternal-september.support 0000018334 0000010511 y
eternal-september.talk 0000003383 0000003354 y
eternal-september.test 0000013878 0000006788 y
eternal-september.spam 0000000022 0000000022 y
eternal-september.software 0000000038 0000000001 y

Notice that you are NOT logged in as whatever email address you used
to setup the account.  You do that in the Pan program as I described
above.

To exit, type:

quit  <enter>

If you exited properly, you should see:

205 Bye!

If you made it this far, your internet connectivity is working
correctly and all you need to do is properly configure Pan.
