More foot pain

The metatarsal pain started at 20 miles, I knew the rest of the ride
was going to vary bad, but I bravely (SNORT) motored on for another 5
miles before I turned around. (actually, I peddled on. no motor for
me) At the 35 mile mark I had to stop to take off the shoe and massage
my poor feet. I had to do that again every 7 or 8 miles all the way
back to the truck. After 50 miles I could hardy walk, even with the
shoes off.

 This cannot go on like this. I have the legs and the lungs to ride
60/70/ maybe even 80 miles, and I'm not going to be limited by my
feet.

I just ordered a pair pedals with a heel sling. There's nothing to
clip in. I can ride in sneekers or sandals or boots, or even barefoot.
