Explain to us what you know about the service. It is automatic promotion from Airman Basic to A3C when you graduate basic training and automatic promotion when you graduate tech sxhool. What is this time in grade BS that you don't know anything about? You were too busy slithering around to know anything about the service,

     Airman Basic (E-1) is eligible for promotion to Airman (E-2) with
six months' time-in-grade.
     E-2 is eligible for promotion to Airman First Class (E-3) with 10
months' time-in-grade.
     E-3 is eligible for promotion to Senior Airman (E-4) within 18 to
24 months' time-in-grade (depending on earlier promotions).
 
Seems like Johnny may be right, you never _were_ in the airforce.
