In the United States "health" is not paid for by the government except in special circumstances. My doctors are $1,000 a visit. Don't get injured and get epelepsy as a result.

Yow. My doctor's visits are $15.
That wouldn't cover a doctor's costs. Since you live in the US
I'm curious who pays the balance....
PS In Brazil I usually pay zero. Medicine is free, covered by
the State. Also any radiological/laboratory exams. I did an ECG this
week, and although the diagnosis was wrong is was FREE!!!!
Better than paying U$ 1000 for a wrong diagnosis.
To be a State doctor here you had to pass extremely hard
exams, so the best medicine was via State. Only 5-10% of doctors
passed, but salaries were very good.
But Bolsonaro did away with that and now they are hiring by
"lowest price", like the private health plans do.
You have to be very careful who you choose. Sometimes it's
best to pay U$ 100,00 for a private doctor. Sometimes your chances of
survival increase by going free.
